Progressive? braking

Not a problem as such, more just a query. I seem to have 'progressive' braking, i.e, if you hold the same pressure on the brake pedal, the brakes seem to come on more as you slow down, if you know what i mean. hard to describe but its a bit like when you have oil on your discs (which I havent). they seem to pull themselves on more without pressing any harder on the pedal.
I just wondered if this was a normal thing or not?

The brakes are designed to operate within certain temperatures for optimim performance and it could be that as you brake gently the discs are warming up and then giving you the maximim braking effect as they become hot... but I would not have thought it was anything to worry about..... as long as there are no strange noises and vibrations coming back when under braking, and the car is not pulliing one way or the other.........and as you slow down so the braking efort becomes less and if you hold the same pressure then you will brake harder.....

Snoopy,
Yeah I wasnt really worried, just wondered if it was normal on these. Its one of those things you get used to after a while, got to be really gentle on the brake pedal. Mind you it hasnt long since had new pads so it might settle down, thanks

Alan
Ours arent as greasy as yours and anyway, I could tell you something about McD's and protein but you would never work there again! I dont think its public knowledge and I certainly aint posting it on here!

(apart from that im in plastics...so there! Tongue )

Ah AHha! How long since it had new pads? New pads had a specila surface on them to clean up the face of the OLD disc and MUST be treated with the greatest respect for the first 500 miles depending on what sort of driving you do... there is usually a leaflet inside telling you all about this but the feeling you get is I think quite normal......
