When you turn the ignition on does the red boot light on the instrument cluster come on and off when the boot is opened and closed?

9 times out of 10 the problem is related to the bonnet pin switch.

Let us know what happens.

Right. I don’t know if the alarm and the boot light share the same switch but what I do know is the doors and boot have ajar switches built into the clasps which are used by the alarm, ajar indicators on the instrument cluster and deadlocking. the easiest way to check and see if the alarm is failing on the boot is to turn the ignition to position 2 and have a look at the instrument cluster. on the right should be a picture replicating the car. each OPEN door and the boot is identified by a red LED. if the boot one remains lit while boot closed then you know the switch is at fault.

also check the position of the boot latch, sometimes these can move.

the alarm on the scorp as far as I know does not have a current sensing mode so the boot light should not affect it.

Hope some of this helps.

Just another thought, Check the cable that runs down each of the boot hinges (especially at the ends closest to the rear folding seats) these are renowned for breaking up inside the insulation and causing problems. even though they may look ok check very carefully.
