Just bought a P reg 2.3 Ultima Estate, which is lovely, lovely lovely, and I thought the only problem was that the remote doesn't work, but I've noticed that, though the gear change is smooth as silk, and the engine is great, there is no kickdown. On my last one, I pushed the pedal down and was jerked back into my seat by the kickdown, but on this one, I just get steady acceleration. It doesn't drop a gear like it should. Any suggestions other than FMD?

hi there
 
i think 'kickdown' is controlled from the pcm, taking reading from the throttle position sensor. i would have a look at that first, the wiring and the plug. the is an issue with some of the wiring on the scorpio's. then give the MAF a clean.
