Rear axle whine

24v scorpio ultima auto 30,000 miles Noticed a whine from back axle (no mother in law or kids jokes please)Only happens on over run between 50 and 45 miles per hour.Had car on jacks could not feel anything untowards. Any one any ideas. Thanks

Have you checked the oil level in the axle otherwise I would have thought that it was a bearing starting to wear a little have known axles whine for years so if you can put up with it then leave alone...bt the oil level is worth checking....ford spec is SQM2C - 9002 - AA it takes 1.3 litres but the level should be just level with the filler plug hole when you remove the filler plug .
