Hi M8 and welcome. I too have a 24v and yes its amazing!!!! My car had similar problems to yours i i cleaned the maf http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm Its a five minute job and it made my car alot better to drive. It maybe the filter (whats the milage/year). Also check the condition of the oil (red is good & brown is not).A top up maybe required as well. I hope this helps a little and im sure other people will add comments as well. Cheers for now Nick

Hi Nick Thanks for that Yes we have read about cleaning the maf, we only bought the car on friday so this is new to us. It's a 95 with 190k mileage we only paid £600 so feel we got a bargain as otherwise exellent condition. When the car is cold and put it in gear it takes a few seconds for drive to engage and go does this make sense?? ha ha we have a xj40 aswell and not as complicated cheers

That does make sense, and sounds like you do need to check the gearbox oil level (and quality). As Nick says, clean the MAF too. Its certainly not going to do any harm. Although cleaning it may be common knowledge amongst us, I don't think it is anywhere else. It may not have been cleaned for years, or ever! Paul
