I have just got a 2.3 DOHC Ultima and I cannot seem to find the spark plugs and distributor. I would be grateful if somebody could tell me what I have to do to change a set of plugs. Thanks Dave

Hi Dave, the scorp 2.0 16v and 2.3 16v engines are very much alike and don’t have distributors, they are completely electronic (no HT leads, No distributor or rotor arm) just a lot of electronic gadgets computers and wiring You can find the sparkplugs located under the plate at the top of the engine (plate with Ford and 2300 DOHC written on). Undo the bolts and remove the cover. You should see 2 large black boxes (Coil Packs) and 2 white plastic connectors. The coil packs can be removed VERY CAREFULLY (Expensive!!) by unscrewing the star shaped bolts on each, the white plastic connectors can be twisted and removed. Take your time and make note of where everything goes. Also check the condition of the wiring going to coil packs as these get very hot and can eventually lead to cracking of the insulation. Hope this helps Danny R
