Recently had the heads skimmed on my 2.9 12v - Now the pressure increase has blown a piston - is it worth repairing or does anyone know of a replacement engine? It is a 96 ultima est. really like the car would be a shame to scrap - the garage offered £100! I am moving to the continent and would like to fix and convert to lpg - can anyone help or advise?

have a look on ebay, grab yourself a bargain and grab the engine then sell the parts to all us who await with abaited breath for parts to become available, or sell all its parts to buy another, but good luck m8, ps who skimmed the heads.

I would have thought the 12v engines were ten a penny these days as any on the old granada's with the 12v will fit well worth looking around for one .. there have been loads of links to scrap dealers on here and there are some on the main site who supply parts ... A big job but quite easy on the 12v not as difficult as the 24 and 2.3 loads more room to work... My advice get another engine S/H ..got to be worth it...
