Removal of CD Player cable

Hi, Has anybody tried removing the cable from the head unit to the CD player? I started in the boot and removed the CD player itself with no problems at all. I then started to remove the cable and got as far as the dashboard when I hit a dead-end, the cable seems to disappear up behind the dash. I removed the radio head unit and tried to have a go from that end but without success. Anybody know what's required to get the cable out of the car, (in 1 piece please although the idea of taking a wire-cutter to it is getting more and more appealing!!). The car is not fitted with a passenger-side airbag but even the dummy cover doesn't want to come off to provide better access!! Any advice would be most welcome, otherwise it gets the clippers at the weekend!! Cheers!! Briggsy

Hi Briggsy, I had the same problem when I did the 2007 to 7000 radio upgrade - I took the cutters to it, but found you have to bridge the earth (see the write up on the main site!) I got the impression the loom for the 2007 is spliced into the the main loom! Which model are you trying to remove? Cheers Daven

Hi Daven, I've taken the standard 7000 series head unit and CD player, (not sure what serial number but the unit fitted as standard), out of a '96 Scorpio that I bought for spares for my own '96 2.9 12v. The CD player has gone to a friend at work to fit in her escort, but she needs the cable as well. I thought it might just go round the back of the glove compartment, but it seems to go up and over it! Proving a right git to get at/out! Think I might just end up cutting it and then rewiring, perhaps I should count the wires at each end first to make sure they all go to the same place!? Thanks!

Thanks for that you guys, I'll have a good go at it again at the weekend, although I can already hear the sound of pliers snipping cables!!
