hi guys finally sorted out the setting of the CC but i have noticed another problem. First the temprature gauge is a little quirky and goes from half way when runnning normal then drops to the blue line after a while. I am going to assume this is the temprature sender and will replace it on monday. the Air Con works when the car is cold and started it works for about 30 mioles then stops completely after a visit up to London and back today it got a little warm and no cool air to refresh me is this a normal thing with Scorpios or any of you people know whats going on? would appreciate all the help i can get

The temperature gauge giving wrong readings is s well documented fault .. its all down to some dodgey soldering on the PCB there is a write up of how to fix it on the main site.......... http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/coolanttempgauge.htm

The A/C sounds a bit strange.. I would go and get it checked over by an A/C specialist there are some listed on the A/C pages on the main site..but most of them know what they are doing but one that is recomended is better

Cheers

I had the wandering gauge also and the temp sender worked for me so I would definitely try that first.

The sensor for the temperature gauge is different to that for the PCM and as far as I'm aware neither has any influence on the AC switching.

The PCM coolant temperature sensor is used to switch the fans to full speed when the coolant hits about 96oC. When the aircon is switched on the cooling fans go automatically to half speed whatever the coolant temperature.

Given the A/C system is working sometimes perhaps the first place to look is R24 in the fuse box next to the battery. R24 is the WOT relay and it seems to suffer from contact wear. Check it's contact resistance (it's normally closed so should be 0) and see if whiggling it engages the A/C clutch.

Thanks you guys
I took a look at the Aux fuse box checked everything against the owners manual and all ok except the Air Con thingy in position 24, In the owners book it say it should be a green thingy but mines light blue. Just wondering if someone has put the wrong one in at sometime on the thingy there are the following numbers

V23074

PA66 GF25

Ford Q1UHW

96FG  19W572AA

6HD-1

12V

Anyone know if this is the right thingy or is it a wannabe thingy and i should get the proper one

much appreciated

Blue is the colour .. Green relates to the cooling fans aux relay behind the offside headlamp.
