Hi Guys I am a newbie I have a 98 scorpio ghia x 2.3 it has only 85000 on the clock. I have had it exactly a year last month. I love it to death. My problem is the remote I have changed the batteries once with no problems. The second time it stopped working altogether. I have tried reprogramming it as suggested on this site but it still wont work. My question is can I buy a new one if it is beyond repair. I live in doncaster

New ones are available at around £60-80. I would try cleaning it as advised here and fitting a new battery- 2032. john.n

Hello and Welcome. Firstly your remote not working is nothing to do with you living in Doncaster ,Take it apart and clean the gold contact with a normal everyday eraser, do the same with the rubber contacts that touch these,If you have a multimeter test the voltage on the batteries to check they are ok,If not put it back together and try to programme it again. If this don't work try new batteries, I did the eraser trick to my Fathers remote about two months back and it still works fine with everyday use.
