hi there

should work. i think the egr pipework is different (not sure). if so, it's a real pain to change over. i ended up buying a new pipe.....£40+vat! Sad

ps. i should add, my replacement came from a 2.0 16valve. that's why i think it should be ok.

hi there

we got the big nut free quite easily, but the pipe wouldn't come off. tried heat, force etc. gave up in the end. the replacement one (2.0 16v), came with a different pipe, but came off with no problem Huh
maybe you need to let it cool right down to get it to come off?
you could just blank it off as i did until the new pipe arrived.

Thanks a lot by the look of the pics the manifold looks to be the same, the crack's exactly the same, could be a pic of mine, only mine goes nigh on right round, could it be that the pipe was rusted in? My manifold, pipe and egr all look relatively new.Have you got any pics of the 16v. manifold, did it fit with the down pipe ok? and were there no problems with the engine mountings?

hi there

post #22 is the replacement manifold with 2.0 16v pipe cut and welded shut. we then remove it when the new 2.3 16v pipe arrived. as for the old 2.3 16v pipe on my manifold, the nut un-screwed off, the pipe could turn in the hole, but wouldn't come out! i never found out why. had the manifold lying around for ages as well, but never got round to having another go at it.
re differences between the 2.0 8v, 2.0 16v & 2.3 16v. i'm not sure. the two 16valve engines have the same fittings, but the egr pipework is different. i've never seen a 2.0 8valve, so can't say anythhing for certain. looking at the photo of the 8valve ( http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/technical.htm ), the egr 'mushroom' seems to be in the correct place, so should be ok.

cheers, thanks alot for your help.
I'm going to order the part and take a gamble with it being ok, it's the cheapest way out. I paid 100 quid 2 1/2 yrs. ago with labour by a ford dealer, but now it costs over 200 quid without the labour, so i'm prepared to take the chance.

ps. when i've tried it i'll let you know.

I have the same problem, got a 2,0l 8v and can only find a exhaust manifold to a 2,3l 16v. Did it work to replace it with a one from a 16valve?
Please anyone, help me!

2.0 8v engine was also fitted to the earlier Granada and Sierra so may be worth checking if the exhaust manifolds on those cars are the same - then contact breakers yards and ask.

I know, but in the Scorpio 95 the exhaust manifold goes right down to the catalyst and in the others its in an angle ~45 degre, hard to translate and hard to find pictures to show to.
