Hi all I am puzzled. My power has dropped to say, 30hp. No real noises. it sounds just as sweet as ever but couldnt pull the skin off a rice puddin'. I suspect the cam chain tensioner may be at fault as there is a coincidently loose-ish intermittent noise from the alternator area. Hard to describe. I guess I need to interrogate the system for codes any ideas anyone? Help greatfully appreciated Gremlingo 24v lpg cossi est.

Blimey! Well, I would have thought that if it was a chain related problem, it would sound like a skeleton having a w*nk in a biscuit tin and not sweet as you descirbe. Others who have had these troubles will be able to tell you what it sounds like I'm sure. Alternator..? I presume all drive belts are in place ok? Another idea might be LOS (limited operation strategy). That would only allow the car to reach about 30mph or something. Again, I don't have first hand experience of this but will try to find out more for you.

Surprise surprise the car got down to 15mph on full throttle after 10 miles. Then it shuddered and reared up to its old performance and rewarded my worry with thrusting me towards the ceiling. huuuuurrrrayyy now what happened? Thoughts appreciated. Glen

Hi mate, Gotta say that it sounds like one of the cats to me. Very typical symptoms of very little power but idles as sweet as a nut!!. The sudden power increase was the core moving or breaking up a bit more and unblocking the exhaust. Been there done it and got the T-shirt. hth Thunderchild
