Boot lid springs

I think I saw another member's description of how to adjust the tension of the boot springs, but can't find it now  Undecided. I got my young nephew, who is built like a brick outdoor convenience and has muscles to die for  Tongue, to try pulling the spring back a notch, so as to stop the boot lid trying to crush my skull in the most modest of winds, but he couldn't.

The problem is you can't get a straight pull back on the little loop on the rear end of the springs.

Has anyone managed to do this adjustment, and if so how was it done?  Roll Eyes

It's been bugging me for ages too. I have the opposite problem, it hardly goes up at all some days. (Oo er Missus!)  Tongue

I think it might just be possible if the Terminator pulls the spring, Robocop pulls the clip out, and finally Commander Data re-locates the clip in the new location.

Cheers,
Wayne (I never want to manually open my boot ever again).  Cool

Wayne,

Thanks for the encouragement  Grin. I finally got the aforementioned boc to pull back the springs far enough for me to latch them into the next to last hole in the adjuster bars.

A piece of 6mm rope 1.0 metre long tied in a loop through the wire eye on the spring was pulled backward by the boc  Wink whilst I sat in the boot with a mole wrench fastened to the spring close behind the loop, so I could guide the hook end of the spring out of one hole and through one further back  Tongue.

The boc said the job was a piece of cake but I daresay he could lift the whole car for me to change a wheel  Grin.

Yes it does and so far hasn't fallen on my head. My dear beloved boc would, if asked nicely, do the same for others I'm sure. But it might cost a packet of fags like it did for me  Grin!
