The ballooning radiator saga continues!!

Hello all,

As a few of you may know, when I bought my first S reg Cosworth almost 2 years ago now, I had a problem with the ballooning radiator which seemed to affect quite a few of the Cosworths.

I have now purchased a nice shiny silver S reg Cossie and while up on the ramp today at my mates garage, I noticed that the rad on this one was on the way out too!!

I have a couple of spare ford rads so I can change it no problem but I would like to ask if anyone thinks it is worth changing the expansion bottle and cap as well as the thermostat as recommended by Sherlock Ramsey on the main site!!

The car has only done 57k as opposed to the 96k on the red one when that first went

Hi Baz, it's Sherlock here  Tongue

I wouldn't worry about changing the expansion bottle - just make sure the smaller air bleed pipe is clear.

I would strongly recommend changing the thermostat. IMV if you replace the rad without the 'stat as well then you're just wasting money 'cos it'll do the new rad just the same.

Also, if you don't change the 'stat we won't have the control to test the theory... Roll Eyes

Excellent, thanks Baz.
And make sure it's a new thermostat - not some crusty old second hand one  Grin otherwise the control won't be right.

I reckon your replacement radiator will be quite safe ... but time will tell.
