Hello every one, I have owned a 1996 2.5tdi ultima estate for the past 3 years and must admit to my fare share of faults/problems. After a lot of interesting reading this is my first time of asking. I have oil leaking from the tel ltale at the bottom of the flywheel housing between engine and gear box. No sign of oil tracking down outside of engine, changed crank shaft seal (old one looked fine), still leaking. Engine oil only on engine side of flywheel, no obvios sign off leak on inside of flywheel housing. Could I have the wrong bolts back in the wrong holes from a previous engine out job causing oil to track through?(the oil leak did not srart immediately after thee engine was put back in). Are there any ther any tricky o rings that I might of missed?(I do not have a book). Any thoughts?, Thanks Stavie4222

Hi stevie2222 .. also check for any blocked breathers .. if there are any ..then the pressure will cause leaks from the next weakest point < ie; crank seal > ... which would explain the leak after two seals .. regards ...STN

Thanks snoopy, I will be e-mailing you for parts lists, tech info, what ever you have, it's good to have friendly constructive sources. Thanks also "to save the nights" for answering. Yep breathers clear, and changed, and run engine for some time with pipe from rocker cover straight into coke can. Still leaked. Is it possible that my engine only leaks after shut down?.
