Hi m8s

This may not seem like a big problem, but i can't seem to find anything about this on the homepage. If someone could please tell me the performance of the Scorpio 2,9 24v cosworth with automatic, that would be great.

0-100 km/t / 0-60 mph
Top speed.

thanks in advance.

Not sure but it is 207BHP

and it gets to 60 before 10 seconds and does if required well over 130mph.

the clock only go's to 160, I think it might be limited to 155mph

but that will be confirmed and there is a way of turning it off, never tried it yet because the 2.3 wont go past 135 not that I've tried that redicilous speed, it just what I hear! Wink

Speeding is agaist the law and you will get points Grin, if your caught. and so is drink driving now I dont condone that.

I believe the 0 - 60 time is 8.5 secs and Top Speed is limited to 140 mph - Although apparently if you drive up to this speed and turn your cruise control on and you use the + button it will actually go beyond 150 mph. Not having cruise control on mine though I haven't been able to try this.

not sure about the cruise control thing ,but i know of a 24v estate that showed just over 140 and then seemed to pull back it (apparently) did not want to pull beyond this speed ,the 0-60 is not that good for an engine this size  yes i know its a big heavy auto ,but there are plenty of other big heavy autos that will leave it a long way behind ,i know from exp and use of a 2.5 volvo the scorpio or at least mine wont stay anywhere near it on 0-60 blast but over a certain the speed the scorp will pull away not sure if this helps

I have a 2,9 v6 12 valve and my brother has a 24 valve cosworth. Mine is much quicker to sixty than the cossie although his top end is better than mine. Don't know if this normal.

These figures are quite right. And the cruise control trick does work apparently. I do have cruise but have yet to try this out. But I know a man who has  Wink

Not the quickest car to 60 agreed. And its rare that you can use the top end speed. But its the mid-range that these Cossies are at their best. I love it  Grin Grin Grin

There is a certain road in my neck of the woods where boyracers 'test' their cars daily, it has a roundabout at each end and a rather nice high speed sweeping curve. I have had literally dozens of them try it up against my Scorp and whilst a few of them will have a slight edge off the line it really doesn't take long to draw them back and when the so called hothatches etc are running out of steam at 110-120 mine is just starting to wind up in topgear and at 130 is still pulling really hard. I am also yet to come up against anyone who can take the corner as fast as my Scorp - embarassed a few Impreza WRX STI's around here with the rear end squealing in a nice contolled manner at 125-130, for such a big car it really does hustle. I'm sure any locals reading this will know the road and have probably seen a large strange looking car flashing past and fishtailing around the roundabout - Bloody Hooligan !

I'll video it one day just for fun - did the same thing with my bike.

Not a very good ad for Scorpio owners am I?

0-60 is 8.3 I believe.

it would be nearer 7 seconds with a manual though in my opinion.

Bear in mind that when magazines etc quote 0-60 times, they usually always quote the time for the manual version. Whereas the 24v Scorp only has an auto, so on paper it doesn't look fantastic.

But 50-100 (I mean 70  Wink) it's in a league of it's own.

Cheers,
Wayne

Hey guys

Thanks for the great response. What i really wanted to know, was the official statistics from Ford. Even though your experiences are very convincing, i would like to know what Fords specs for this car is. So if someone should have them laying around, please let me know.

BTW seems that some people are disappointed that only does 0-60 in about 8-9 sec... well i think that's really fast for a car this size. Think about it.. With 8,5 sek. that faster than a Golf mk2 GTi 16v... So i wouldn't call it slow. Thats very fast.

Hi

If you want to check the performance of the Cossie
make sure you have the right rated tyres fitted,to do
anything above 140 you need W or X rated
 someone else may say different.
