Engine stalling/cuts out periodically

Hi all--I have a Granada 2.9i V6 24v Cosworth (Auto) which is 'M' registration (94), I believe this was the very last Granada model made before the newer shape was introduced. When I start the car and drive off, I can drive anything from 3 to how ever far I can go with the amount of fuel in the tank but with no warning at any time, even with cruise on at 55mph, the engine will completely cut out/stall and will not restart. The engine just turns over but waiting 2/3 mins, it starts fine and drives away as if nothing happened--and could stall again at any time. What could be causing the engine to just cut out?

hi there this forum is for the later scorpio from 1995. you're better trying http://www.granada-and-scorpio-online.com/ does sound like a electrical problem, though. faulty fuel relay or ignition switch.
