Header tank

Hi When checking water level there is a kind of (moose) in the header tank is this normal, its bubbly and fluffy. I know it sounds yakky but have just had a engine change,and not seen this b/f is it normal. Ren

Sounds to me like you may have head gasket trouble, they normally refer to this as mayonaise. Hope for your sake i am wrong.

Ren, Had a similar problem when I first got my scorp. The original engine had been replaced a short while before , due to major failure , but no one had though to clean out the water system properly and the result for me was a very sludgey header tank . Took off the tank , cleaned it out etc. and has been o.k. since . Hope this may help . Madd.

Hi Ren, That's oil you found. It's funny how it turns, when boiled in water. Check oilfiller cap, if there is same staff inside, you are in trouble. Water and oil are mixed together. (cylinderhead gasget?) Probably it's just from assembly, dropped down to waterchannels when cylinder head was fitted. Mmonster

HI Had it checked,it looks like (as advised) Madd solution is correct. it needs the system flushing. there was no oil showing in the header, get that done s ee how it goes. Hi Lee was hopeing to make it to the meet the other sunday the next one is 7/11/04 yes?.....will if everything ok be there. reg Ren
