slow to select rev

hi when i first the start car will go straight into rev, but when car is warm can take up to about 30 sec to select rev. have tryed checking oil seems ok just wondering if there is any adjustment on them or will need new box thanks Lee car is a 2.9 12v

hi lee you say the oil level is ok,is the colour ok as well,as for adjustments,i stand corrected but i think the only thing that can be adjusted is the brake bands,but this should only be done if the gearbox is not slowing down properly under engine breaking....

Slow selection of reverse is usually the sign of a failing gear box...... Do as advised and check the gear box. Check the level whe its really hot after a drive with the engine running and after selecting all the gears several times.. Put it into PARK and then check the oil level.. also as advised the colour and maybe the smell.. If it looks and smells like old engine oil then it is need of a change..... If it is low find out the cause maybe the front cooler pipes are corroded, or a seal has gone.. things may not be as bad as you fear..... HTH
