Hello all, driving home from France yesterday, the wife complained that the seat heater wasn't working. Can someone let me know which fuse(s) are responsible and I assume the relay is the one in the centre armrest Thanks Baz

It is definately the fuse then, I have just checked the ciggie lighter and that is off too. The wife had her phone plugged into the socket on the way back from France so it is probably that!! Thanks chaps Baz

Brilliant it would have taken me ages to think of a way to blame the wife for a blown seat heater fuse!

Strangely enough, my seat heater fuse blew yesterday too. I haven't dared put in the new fuse yet though - My bonnet will probably blow off in the wind if I do.

Michael, Check the relay. It is inside the centre console. Just remove the screws and it is the yellow one inside. Cheap enough to buy from fords or I can send you one if you can't get one Baz

Good morning Baz / John, I have now cured the problem of the heated seats. Colin Lewis came round to the house this morning with his Scorpio. He checked the fuse and the cigar lighter all OK. We stripped out the relay from his Scorpio - tried it on mine it worked. The main Ford dealers did not have the part Relay R26 40 Amp- The yellow relay in the centre console. Went to a Lucas parts auto dealer For future reference - They had the part - RELAY Ref SRB518 Cost GBP 7.23 inc VAT - fitted it and all is working OK. The main Ford dealers price was GBP 10.80 plus VAT Thanks guys for all of your input Michael ( Happy Captain )

Just remember to check the pin layout before putting any old relay into an original relay holder ,certainly in the captains case we tried to or three auto spares shops and could quite easily have walked away with wrong relay ,yes it was 40 amp same pin layout ,just different contacts on the terminals , colin

My heated seats are working perfectly right now, as is the heating system in general. This is quite fortunate as the boiler here indoors has just packed up today. No central heating - it's bl**dy freezing in here Certainly a warmer environment in the car.
