The seat memory has never worked on my P reg 2.3 Ultima. If I use the remote to unlock the car the seat travels all the way back. If I adjust the seat and try and store the position by pressing the long memory button and then one of the three recall buttons I don't get an acknowledging chime as the handbook says I should. For this reason I need to unlock the car with the key to save having to adjust the seat each time. The previous owner never bothered to fix the problem and actually managed to wear out one of the keys. Any ideas? Nodge

Hi Scorpio-Man, By "module" do you mean the actual gizmo with the memory buttons? Do I get at it just by removing the 2 screws that hold the door pocket on? Do I have to disconnect the battery before fiddling about with it? Nodge

Just a quick suggestion. Once you've got the switch box out, just try unplugging it afew times. I've had similar problems with mine and the cruise control\buttons and the problem seems more to do with the plug than the buttons themselves. As already suggested, the button assemble needs careful handling. White spirit is a pretty good switch cleaner but not much, agitate the switches and dry it well afterwards. Good luck, Ron.

Just found out so: Dave, to answer your (my) question: The ten position electric passenger seat was a cost option on the Ultima. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/specifications.htm PS A real question this time. Protrouding from underneath my passenger seat is a rubbery pouch on the end of a rubbery rod. It looks like one of those things you have to squeeze to stop bombs going off. Here's a picture http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/missterdave/Hosting/59_1.jpg What is it? D

CAREFUL !! If you squeeze too hard the passenger is ejected through the sunroof. - no, actually its the lumber support adjustment. Squeezing the bulb puts air into the lumber support, pressing the button releases the air.

'Oh!' Thank you! I am no longer afraid of it. Sometimes I think this car has too many gadgets. Today i'm going to fix some more little niggly bits and put a stereo in it. Wish me luck. Cheers Eric D

NODGE, the fact that the seat is returning to a set position when you press the remote tells me that there is nothing wrong with the electronics in the seat itself. Therefore, the problem must be the switches on the door pocket as Scorpio_Man suggested.
