Auxiliary Drivers side Fuse Box replacement

I have the usual problems with uncontrollable lights and door chimes etc that suggest the fuse box is wet and/or corroded.  I ahve dried out and injected WD40 into the various fuse entries but only obtained temporary repair. I am not up for a dismantle and rebuild but will replace the fuse box at approx £110 for the box. Are the only connections those from the junction box at the front of the fuse box? Is it easy to remove and replace? How do I remove the drivers side fuse box? Is it accessed from inside the cabin?

not being funny if you feel able to replace the fuse box and are not daunted by this task then a rebuild is really not that difficult esp on the aux by the battery ,this is the real easy one ,you may find easier to remove a bit of the bulkhead peel back the rubber seal and you will see in front of the battery that the bulkhead  split remove this disconnect battery and remove fuse box plugs will only go back in one way so no need to mark them up ,and if you intend to replace it what have you got to lose by stripping down the old box cleaning it up and putting it back in ,i have personally done this and you are probably looking at around an hour messing about inc coffee breaks ,extra to just putting in a new box and you save yourself £110.oo

It is the driver's side fuse box that causes the problems which can be solved temporarily by removing various fuses but I then lI might lose brake lights so it is not a long term solution. I have had the problems on two occasion. I removed all the fuses and squirted lots of WD40 into the fuse slots on the assumption that it will penetrate between the circuit plates in the box. It seems to work after about one day and I have had no problems for a week except the heater fan now appears to operate independently of the fan control switch etc. Not too serious and I will get to it over the next few weeks when I have spent more time reviewing this site.. I will also leave the box until it goes again.
 
I discovered this site last night. Very helpful. I have unclogged my ac drain pipes, resealed my aerial in the roof, changed the spark plugs and will embark on other repairs to remove the little glitches that others have also experienced.

sorry my mistake i thought we were talking about the aux box on passenger side ,to remove the drivers side one takes a little longer but it can still be rebuilt easily ,i personally dont think it is as difficult as ,main site suggests ,and i said earlier if you intend to replace it anyway why not try stripping it down first ,something you could try first is to remove the plugs from underneath and spray in some switch/contact cleaner and make sure you push them back hard ,then remove each fuse individually and clean each of the the contact blades and give all contacts a good squirt of contact cleaner,but if ther is damp in ther the only way is to strip down and dry each layer

MOST DEFINATELY check the integrity of the fuse box connections underneath the box before doing anything else.
 
You will need to remove the lower drivers side dashboard trim/coin box. Open the door to find 2 screws by the hinge area.
Once removed you will find a peice of plastic netting,remove this and (most uncomfortable this bit!) look up beyond the gas pedal,behind the dash,you should see a RATS NEST of wiring/plugs. Give these a good going over.  Give them all a firm push to ensure proper contact.
 
When finished,have a large scotch/brandy and lie down for an hour whilst your back/neck recover!! Grin
