ANNOYING SQUEEK
« on: Nov 7th, 2004, 8:19pm »

I HAVE A RATHER ANNOYING SQUEEK COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL, WHICH THEN SEEMS TO CHANGE OCCASIONALLY INTO A GRINDING SOUND AS IF SOMETHING IS RUBBING OFF THE DISC SPLASH SHEILD.  ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS, I THOUGHT IT MAY BE THE DISK RUBBING BUT CAN'T SEE ANY EVIDENCE.

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE Smiley

Locky,

one annoying squeak I have found comes from the inetia seatbelt where the roll moves when you move in your seat

You may have 2 squeaks!!

mentioning squeaks Angry Angry Angry

has anybody found a good solution to the very annoying squeaks that come from the front leather seats ?,not sure if it is the seat against the centre consul,or the seat belt rubbing against the seat ?....
but boy does that get on your nerves after a while Huh

Turn the stereo up Craig  Wink. Or sing. Orrrr both!  Shocked

I think someone some time ago, solved it by sticking on some strips of velour to the sides of the console. Or was it the seat? Undecided
Come forth whoever you were!  Grin

Locky I would suggest that you check the rear wheel bearing for your 'annoying squeak' and have a read of this as well......http://www.fordscorpio.info/rhubs.htm its how this one started out ...

On the question of the front seats squeaking, I examined mine and it has the full Raven Leather interior but the two front seats on the sides that touch the centre consul only have a velour trim. This is the only place they have velour and are full leather everywhere else.
I had heard this mentioned before and wondered about it as mine have never squeaked. Maybe Ford got wind of the problem and changed the design towards the end of the range.

The squeek on the front seats is as far as I know caused by the seat belt holder rubbing against the centre consul ... I taped a small peice of dark velvet to the outside of the passenger side one and the squeek disappears now... (It does only happen whenbthere is someone sitting in the seat.. easy way to find if that is the cause is to push a duster down the side of it when the squeek reappears....

But the squeek from the back wheels MUSt be investigated.... I know from my past experiences and from others.....

thanks to snoopy and baz's suggestions, think i have solved the problem, managed to get hold of some very thin sticky back grey foam, wrapped that around the seat belt holder, and now all seems to be quiet (well having said that, untill mrs short a**  drives Grin, seat as far forward as possible, now the seat rubs against the centre consul Angry....).....
but hopefully will be getting a roll of the stuff mentioned,so if anybody want some, just let me know...
