Just got rid of a 620i manual Rover due to the VERY high pricing of spares and the cost of just about everything else. I am now the proud owner of a 2.3 auto Ultima Scorpio 1997 (R reg). Question: how juicy can i expect this car to be, i put £20 in last night and am now down to about 80 miles left on the computer before refulling. I have only done local small trips with a VERY light foot ( keeping the revs below 2000rpm) amy thoughts would be helpfull..... Also one of the headlamps is cracked, where can i get a reasonable replacement, and what can i expect to pay for it.... I come from Dagenham....
I was sooo surprised to learn that a Automatic Key fob for them was almost £100 plus coding...... I'll stick to using the keys at that price.
mpg will be about 18 to 21 mpg around town for the auto. on a run you'll looking at 27-33 mpg.
re headlight & remote. check on ebay. prices new are £60 (lens), £150 headlight (motor) and £80 for the remote. we get most of our parts from http://www.fordpartsuk.com
Generally in the 4 cylinder versions people seem to reckon between high 20s to low 30s to the gallon really depending on the sort of motoring that you are doing. The fuel computer average on my 2 litre is 32.2 at the moment. Mostly longish journeys and motorways.
Headlamps ~ well there will be others along in a minute with ideas but you should have a look at the parts for sale link on the forum, or try placing an enquiry with Ford PartsUK again linked of the front page of http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk they are pretty good at sourcing and mention the site for a discount.
You could always put it on the parts wanted link and there are a number of folks who are breaking or keeping track of breakers who will come up with something.
Finally key fobs are kind of rich but if you bite the bullet you should not need to let a dealer programme it. Have a look at http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/remote.htm for a good diy programming guide. That should bring the price down to about £75 - £80.
Good luck and happy motoring

I replied to your IM before I checked the site. 13.5 is plain wrong and takes you into Range Rover territory.
You need to get it checked out by somebody with an OBD setup as soon as possible. Time is literally money on this one.
If you do not have anybody close at hand check what your local Ford Rapidfit are charging for a 12000 service.
Often their deal will include a free or reduced cost MOT at a later stage. Tell them you have heavy fuel consumption and ask if they have the tools to check it out.
Good luck and keep us informed

Not "if it's overfueling, it could burn out your cat." it WILL burn out the CAT(s) and leave you also having to replace the exhaust as all the monolith will blow down the pipe.
After putting STP injector treatment in the petrol the figures have risen dramticaly.. When using Cruise control (that now works since I started pressing the buttons in the right order) it has been anything from 20 - 64 mpg (obviously whilst coasting down hill)!!
The numbers are better but I suggest that you change the mode to average mpg on the drive computer. That will give you an operating average read which should get you into the 20s.
The comments above about overfueling are based on bitter experience. If you see those low figures repeating again you really need to get an OBD check as quickly as possible. Prompt action can save you pounds both in fuel and parts and labour.
Hopefully once you have got the niggles out of the way you will be able to really enjoy your scorpio.
