now since i found a company in England which will help me to repair my failed steering rack , I have only the problem left, how to separate the track rod end from the spindle carrier, when dismanteling the rack from the car. I do n o t have a "Ball Joint Separator tool". In fact, I could not find any to buy. Is there an other solution to separate the rack from the car. Regards Volker (pustagris)

not sure if i should be writing this but here goes..... a few years ago ,what "someone i knew" did was this.... undo the top nut on the track rod end, about half way, then obtain a large strong piece of wood, place this on top of said track rod end, obtain 1 large hammer, proceed to bang the wood with the said hammer, then hopefully said track rod end should be ok to remove...... "disclaimer" ,no children or animals were hurt during this procedure

All tapers can be released by a sharp hit. Leave the nut on a couple of threads and hit the outer edge square on and it'll always come off Bazza

Its done. Not by brutal force, but by borrowing an extractor from the local Renault work shop. I gave him 5 Euros. That is cheap in comparision to a new tool of this kind (45 Euros= 30 Pounds) Thanks for all the good advise of you all. regards Volker (pustagris)
