Hi
If you don't have the original red key Embarassed to program other keys from, you need to get ignition re-programmed by Fords  Sad (ouch). As these locks are programmed by magnerism and you've had a great deal of heat around the ignition itself, I would also suspect you will need a new ignition switch  Sadas well because magnets and heat don't go together well as heat kills magnets. This is probably why the key you have no longer works!
Good luck Grin

back to square one first Edds .. the key or Pats has no bearing on the "no gauges no ignition fault "..so you need to find that first  .. the transducer around the key barrel can be from any car as thats all it is as you said ..a transponder .. find the other faults first before looking at immobiliser .. keep us posted .. worth checking the battery leads < sounds daft > but maybe they were cut by the owner or Fire Brigade .. one lead missing would initiate your pats light but leave you with no ignition so check that first .. easy to drop one behind the battery .. especially after the possible fire chaos ..... regards .........STN
