HELP! With no advanced warning of a problem, my '95 Ultima stuck in first gear and then no drive at all. I cruised to a stop and was surrounded by smoke and the smell of burning transmission fluid. The local garage has told me that a 'cap' on the side of the gearbox has burst and lost all the transmission fluid. They gave me a schematic of a A4LD-E 1094 box with part 29 on the drawing being the offending article. The part no. is 6425551 I'm told but is no longer available from Ford. Can anyone say if this part is available from another source or is it possible that a serious gearbox fault has caused this cap to pop and may not be a good idea to attempt a repair?
