Steering Pull

Got  a  slight  tendancy to drift  to  left on  straight  flat  roads (  the  steering  wheel  is  also   off  centre  on   straight  ahead ),  i've  checked   that   there   is  an   equal  amount  of  threads  showing   per   track   rod  end.  The   steering  rack  has  been   replaced , so  is there  a chance  that  the  rack  has  been  fitted  slightly  off centre? ,  and  ( I  don't  really  want  to  take  off  and   re-position  the   steering  wheel )  I  should   re- centre  the  steering  wheel ( and  hopefully  fix  the  pull to  the  left  ) by  re-adjusting   the  track rod  ends .     Someone   told  me  it   is   worth  experimenting  by   moving  your  alloys from   wheel   to   wheel   in  cases  like  this   as   even  the   slightest   flaw  in  the " trueness"  of   the    alloy  can  affect   steering   accuracy.

when you get it checked ask them to correct it from the side it pulls to so you get the wheel back to straght
it will be your power steering thats putting the pull on it as its trying to put the rack back to centre(not the steering wheel) Wink

I have a pull to the left on my car too. It's not too severe and the steering wheel is also slightly centered to the left when driving straight. As an experiment, I switched off the engine while driving at about 30mph (in an empty inustrial estate on a quiet Sunday!!!) and the pull to the left increased dramtically. So much so that I almost had to tug on the whell to keep it going straight so the power steering does try to compensate alright. car is due a service soon so I'll get that looked into while it's there. I think the pump is leaking too and there is horrible groaning/grinding noise when on full lock!!! Can't be too good. Has been like that for months. At the moment, I just avoid using full lock and keep the fluid toppedm up when neccessary!
