has anyone tried changing their cars steering wheel at all? Can you get replacement wheels with the cruise control buttons it? Or does anyone know where to get a genuine one in good condition as my one looks like the last owner used a cheese grater on it.... robsa

Usual answer to this one, have a look on Ebay. There are a couple of cars being broken on there at the mo. You could, if you don't mind loosing the airbag, fit a leather wheel from a Granada Scorpio but i'm not sure as to the cruise buttons as the granada only has 4 buttons as opposed to 5 in the Scorpio.

quite an easy job to do,again ebay is usually good for the scorpio parts, when you do obtain one,dis-connect the battery for half an hour to disable the airbag system, from behind, remove the 2 torx screws that hold on the airbag, remove airbag after disconnecting the wire, then undo and remove the large (17 mm if i remember) nut...... viola......removal of wheel is now complete,..... ohhhh, dont forget to unplug the cruise connection,.....

Anyone ever seen an American learner car with two steering wheels? How bizzare. My steering wheel came with one of those fabric covers around it.. I haven't decided whether to take it off. It might be scummy underneath and i'd have to cut it off. But it's scummy as it is! Eeek. ? d

Having kind of given up on the idea of a wood/leather wheel (they're a bit rare, right?) I've gone down the 'like 4 like' route. After all, I don't dislike the basic leather one, its just that mine's a bit crap looking. Anyway, I've done some sneaking around and come up with a brand new one. Ordered it Monday morning and it was delivered today. I have to say, it looks marvelous! Can't believe the difference between new 'n' old And... this is all the more rewarding considering the price I got it for

Ah yes, the price... I forgot Well, it was the princely sum of £36.75 including the VAT. Mind you, I didn't get the airbag in with that - will have to use my existing one. But it did come with all the cruise control buttons, etc fitted. A bargain I thought.

Nice one Paul, any pictures? I know when I got my red Cossie it had a steering wheel that looked like it had melted! I managed to get a couple of really good ones from a scrappy one for me and one for another member. It seems to be a problem on the later model ones. My new silver one only has 60,000 miles on it and the wheel is going on this one. Of course I have not put my wood/leather wheel on yet!! Baz

Well Paul good job, but you know what you have to do next? No! Post a picture up on here so we can have a gawk at the fine job and you can make everyone else glee. £36s a bargin, you cant see the airbag unless you crash so its worth the effort! JJ

Ah, but when you do put it on, you'll be laughing Was going to take photos during the whole procedure, but was so engrossed in my work that I forgot. Will take a photo later It's taking some getting used to (different texture and joints in a different place. Not sure if I like it at the moment Anyway, here it is...

No. Cancel that. Seeing them together now, I can see they're not the same shape.
