Thanks for your speedy replies But the problem is now solved, what I had inadvertantly done was left one of the rear windows slightly open just a couple of mill I would not have noticed this until i discussed the problem with a friend who suggested I checked that all windows are fully closed I think my grand children may have been playing around with the swithches anyway this is good information to anyone else who may have the same problem, as I was not aware that the alarm would be triggered if any window is left open. Hi Craig yes I have fitted global module and all is well but I declined to connect to VSS I consider this to be a little risky in the event of an accident were doors would be locked to outside helpers anyway am I missing something here what difference would it have made to the problem that I had, excuse my ignorance. hi ken see your point with the locking feature, but what baffled me a little was why the window should stay open,if you lock the car with global closing, after all that was what the unit was for, double lock the car,and all the windows and sunroof should close,or did you only lock the car and not deadlock it ?

Yes but global closing will only close the windows while the key is turned clockwise, at least thats what I think mine does. If you let go of the key the windows stop. JJ

That's true John. But the global closing mod that Craig is talking about lets you do it with your remote. 2 presses of the lock button (deadlocking) activates the global closing. You don't have to hold anything.

The previous owner of my Scorpio demonstrated the window and sunroof closing ability when locking the car , but I have been unable to work it out . Also he says on a really hot day when the car has been parked in the sun ,and the interior is boiling , on unlocking the car the windows and sunroof open automatically to dissapate some of the heat, again I have been unable to replicate this (maybe , not suprising , it is kinda cold ! ).

did he demo it with the key or the remote ? if it was the key.you lock the car as normal, and then just activate the deadlocking with the key,but hold the key in place untill the windows have either opened or closed....... it it was with the remote (at some point you must have had the global mod fitted by a previous owner),you just lock the car twice to close all windows ETC,to open all the windows and roof, open the car as normal (1 press),lock the car (NOT double lock it),then unlock the car for a 2nd time... viola ,stand back and watch HTH craig..

Thanks, I'll give that a try tomorrow, trouble is , the remote is kinda hesitant these days, and after 3 or 4 abortive presses of the button to unlock the car, it sets the goddam alarm off ( very popular with the neighbours at 6am ). I shall endeavour to dismantle the remote and clean up the metal contacts.
