I have just noticed (since it started to get cold in the mornings) that even when my car gets up to normal operating temp the heater blows cold air... well that is until I exceed 2500 revs when it blows beautifully hot air.
Then when I slow down in traffic it gradually cools down till its blowing cold again.
Any ideas what I should do first to solve this?

Mine just has standard AC not climate, I don't think it can be reprogrammed...
Does anyone know if it can?

i do stand corrected,but i'm pretty sure the air con can not have any re-setting done to it,i'm sorry i cant offer no more help than that at the moment....

Looking back at some posts on here it would appear that I may have a blocked heater matrix and that it needs to be reverse flushed.
Ok.. the advice also says to disconnect at the engine end as it's easier to do, strikes me that I would also need to block the engine end connections in order not to lose alll of the coolant onto the road.
Can anyone point me at the said pipes with a simple... stand at the front of the car.. look to the top left of xx .. well you get my drift. If anyone has any photos that would be cool.
Plus as there are two pipes I feel that I would also need to know the direction of flow to reverse this via a hose.

Hi Vulcan,
Just trying to remember where the 2nd hose goes, but one is in wery tricky place behind of engine. (opposite side than EGR valve. Right side if you are stading front of your car, facing to the engine)... wait, you have 24v, right?
Before You remove any hoses, try this out:
- If You get hot only when rewing, you might have air in the system.
- To take out air from system, run your engine to the operating temp.
- Remove the fller cap. (NOTE be wery,wery carefull, because there is some hot air and water trying to get out there.) Turn the cap open slowly and when all pressure has gone take the cap away.
- Fill the filler tank to top and rew the engine, you should see some water and air coming out.
- Fill the tank again and do the rew thing again, untill no air is anymore coming out. (keep filling the tank as well)
- Now the hard part: Take out the extra coolant, so the level is near to the TOP marks. Be carefull again. You can use some soft plastic bottle with hose taped on it. (not very longlasting tool, but may work nicely.) 
Hope this will warm you up.

I used to do that before every winter. I really hate when itīs -27C and no heater...
This will be the first winter with 24V, letīs see if itīs on the sale on next april.
(my previous was 2litre DOHC -91 model, i clocked it up to 450 000km...hmmm >280 000miles.. yes, still running well) That was really strong car.

I have tried the removal of the cap and topping up the water, also the squeezing of the hoses etc, and still no joy. Cold as ever. Both the inlet and outlet hose to and from the engine are hot so I don't see how I can have an airlock?
Is there a valve we should be looking at that may be not opening when required?? Or better still, is there a diagram anywhere showing the layout of the component parts and thew control of the water flow??
BBBBBBRRRRRRR, it's cold in me Scorp'.

There are NO valves in the system it is all done with flaps etc you can see it all here..... the diagrams you need to see are at the bottom of the page

Hi Fellows,
If both hoses (in and out) are hot. That means: the hot water has not warmed the air when circulates thru matrix and cooled down. There might be several reasons for that:
- Air is not moving thru matrix. Maybe the hot/could adjustment flap has failed
- Outside of matrix are dirty. (in some cars i have used a brake cleaner spray to clean it on site)
- The matrix are blocked, so the water is not circulating all cels. (You can try a gardenhose in opposite direction flow)
I hope this helps... I really hate driving with could car too.

Right, new 'development' with mine... its starting to overheat in traffic 
Sit at a red light for a couple of minutes and the temp guage goes up to just under the red. The fan cuts in and does its business ok but I'll need to sort this.
And as soon as I move off again, the guage goes back down to dead centre... and I get nice hot air through the vents.
JUST KEEP ON MOVING!

Sorted mine...
I have been checking the water level by looking at the brown mucky level seen through the side of the expansion botle. This level is exactly half way between the min and max marks. Friday I decided to take the top off the bottle and looked inside, this "level" that I had thought was coolant just turns out to be a tide mark and the coolant level was way down. I got out my bottle of coolant and topped it up wile the engine was running till I got a true max level on the bottle and lo and behold the heater inside started to work, lovely hot air inside now.

Vulcan: Good !! I am happy to hear that problem fixed. You didnīt have enough water to circulate in low engine speeds.
Paul_B: Please try to fill up, because seems that You have even less coolant.
When your engine is in idle your waterpump turning slowly and dont have a power to lift water "uphill" around the engine.
When there is enough water (and no air at all) there is no "uphill" and the water will circulate even with low pump speed. There is no matter how good the radiator or big fans you have, if the cooled water cant enter the engine, or the hot water cant get away from there.
(i recommend to do it soon, because you can easyly blow you heads if they gets overheated. There arent cheap)
