my speedo stoped working yesterday and the od light started flashing and gear changes are a little gerky could it be the speed sensor on the box

Yes most likely culprit is the VSS on the nearside of the gearbox... I had to replace mine two years ago for the same reason... No speedo or very erratic and erratic cruise control... quite and easy DIY job though..... worth having it OBD'd though to investigate it...

mine did this last easter and i put a new sensor on but it made no difference after checking all wiring connections etc i eventually as a last gave the maf a good squirt with carb cleaner and everything back to normal and has been ever since

all fixed now was the sensor and the gear was a little worn so replaced that to but me dam cat has started to rattle now
