Hi Folks, How does one remove the Air Bag on a 98 Ghia Estate. There are no screws at the back of the steering wheel on my car, just 4 holes with what looks like 3 plastic claws in them (no torex screws). Tried pulling the centre of the wheel (after disconnecting the battery and leaving for an hour) but cannot get anything to move at all. Need to do this to reset the Air bag wiring as the indicatior in the panel is flashing.

hi peter they are there, believe me,inbetween the holes you are describing, there are 2 torx screws that when removed will let the airbag come away,if it helps, remove the steering cowling, this will improve access greatly... HTH craig..

Craig's right. They ARE there but tricky to get at. I did it only a week or so ago and removed the cowling trim, again, as Craig just said. He's good ain't he?

Yes. There are 2 torx screws. Size: 25 I think this means 2.5 mm. I found it very practical to use a little mirror to see better.

I think the following may help. My air bag/horn unitcame loose recently and I had the same problem locating the screws. My friendly garage sorted it in 2secs flat!!!. Ideally u need to take the weight off the front wheels in order to save forcing the steering to the left and right. You need to turn the steering wheel 180deg so that the screws are accessible at the top/bottom rather than being hidden by the shroud when the wheel is in the 'normal'postion. HTH. Simmo
