Hello,

One hotshot in Nissan, reverse on my rightside wheel and sraped a paint off it. (well.. the bumber of Nissan have interesting look after that   Shocked )
Of cource i asked from Local Ford if new 12-Spoke Soft-Effect (Ultima standard) is still available.. Noup, they said.
Any experience? Is it end of life, or was the clerk just too lazy to do some inventory search?

Regards,

Ford Scorpio 12 spoke wheels are still for sale from any Ford main dealer.
How do I know because I put a claim in to my local council for going down a pot hole next door to a iron man-hole cover and put a dent in the side of wheel.
The cost is Ģ156. The wheel comes in a cardboard box together with a centre cap. I think there was also a set of new wheel nuts as well.
They seem to sell as a complete wheel kit, rather than just the wheel. there would be vat on top of that.

Did you actually win your claim to the council?
I put in a claim for exactly the same thing earlier this year, flattened an alloy by hitting a 12" deep pothole.
They told me that because the road in that area was inspected twice a year and that on the last inspection (5 months previous) it had been fine that I couldn't prove negligence and therefore got nothing Embarassed

Apparently they only need to prove reasonable inspections are done and cannot be held liable for what happens to the road between inspections. If the pothole had been already reported and they had failed to rectify before I hit it then I would have had a claim.

Oddly the day I hit it I reported it at about 2 in the afternoon, on my way home at 5.30 pm it was still there. On my way to work at 7.00 am next morning it was filled in  Shocked they must have been along in the middle of the night to fix it.

Yes I did win my claim. The Council at first  told me  what you said more or less word by word.
I standard sort of first letter I am thinking.
but I have a camera in all my cars as standard. I got these off Ebay for around Ģ25 each, Good camera's that would have cost new around Ģ350.
So I went back and took a number of photos.
The pot hole had been there many weeks. I knew about it and always avoided it until one day it was full of water and could not be seen.
My case may have been more easy for me, because they had a case of a highway inspector reporting for duty in morning then going home for rest of day and there was an item in local newspaper about other members of staff going into cafes for bacon sandwiches when they should have been working.

reading your post again. Two inspections per year. Surely that's got to be bull. from your Council. I mean a lot can happen in six months.
If a person trips over a paving slab that is sticking up more than half an inch then that person has a valid claim, none of this, six months inspections business.
I would say that it makes it a more cut and dry case if it have been reported. but I saying that  if a deep hole causing damage, and is so deep that it could not have occurred in just a day or to, you have a claim.
If you had someone to say how long that pot hole had been there, that would help. but people are real mean, they won't want to get invoved in others people problems, they forget that one day they might want your help

Right after that the pot hole was repaired before I could get any photos of it! Sad

If anyone wants just one as a spare, Hayward Auto, (closed down) in Asby de la Zough has one. I saw it today when I when to pick up my 4 non chrome wheels I won on Ebay.
Hey, those chrome wheels are real great, I must keep my eyes open for a set.
I did not know they where available. I seen some painted black, God, why would anyone want to paint their Alloy's black.

The alloy wheel fitments from Ford are on http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/alloyoptions.htm  Wink

The wheels should still be available - as a mechanical part (not a trim item) they should be available until 10 years after the end of production, (2008 ), but they won't be cheap; however if the Insurance is paying that doesn't matter.

Try another Main Dealer or http://www.fordpartsuk.com/ - Trevor should be able to sort you out.

Hello Eric_R,

Yes, thats the place i found the product name.   Smiley Thanks
(Good pages)

I allready contacted my insurance company and told that local Ford did not sell anymore the original wheel, even itīs still available. They said that there is then 2 possibilitys: a) order one from Germany or England. b) take whole set of new wheels from local market.
Itīs up to my desisson now.  Smiley

What are you folks recommed, should i keep the original look or change them all? (rest of orginals are still like new)

Hi mmonster. In Coventry,  Ford spares come from Ford parts in Daventry. Any Ford Dealership can get parts the same day or the next day from Daventry.
Like I said before. I ordered one at 4.30 pm and the next day they phoned to say ready for collection. so i when to pick it up. one brand new scorpio wheel 12 spoke alloy just the same as when the car leaves the factory.

To Vulcan, I did a post on that about your front wheel bearing.
But I see it did not come out, so I better do it again.
Well, I got to say that if that had been me, I would have let it go. like you did. The reason, is, you do need to prove your case. What's going to happen is that it is going to be said that your wheel bearing was on the way out (fair wear and tear) and it was a coinsidence that the bearing went at the same time. Just so much more differcult, than a damaged wheel.

CHROME WHEELS. I have been thinking, yes I know that a rare occasion.
But in the old days chrome used to go rusty and need to be polished all the time with chrome polish.
It used to get pitted and in some cases used to peel off.
So what's going to happen to those Ford 12 spoke wheels in chrome, I mean all that brake dust and muck and bullets from the roads. We all know how dirty wheels get, but I wondering about the brake dust, would that eat into them.
But I must say that Chrome wheel I saw the other day is just fantasic. If you had a car which had the chrome (not the face lift mode). they would look so rear nice.
I hate the way my "S" reg car without the chrome trim looks at the front. I will look sometime to see if I can fit a chrome trim instead of the painted bit on the bonnet.
That's another point. is it chrome or stainless steel. I mean it never go rusty. its always bright and never goes rusty.
