Scorpios in America

Hi all, Wasn't sure quite where to post this, as it didn't seem to fit in any forum category... Anyway, here it is and back to the point: Has the 95-98 Scorpio shown up in America in any guise (i.e. Ford/Lincoln/Merkur)? When it was launched over here it looked like it might have been born in the USA, but no... One for Danny_R, perhaps?

Hi Nick, Nope, No scorpio's in America, although the styling is certainly suited more to the American roads. The Scorpio does share some minor features used on the Ford Crown Victoria's here but its largely built on the granada platform. If and when i get my Scorpio over here i think it will be the first on Florida's roads Regards Danny R

If I remember correctly the old pre 1995 was sold in America but not the later 95+. Can't remember what they called it, the Merkur Scorpio I think? A rare car in the States. I am sure Admin will know more?

Like a previous poster said the Scorp has a transatlantic look, especially the rear end and does have some echoes of the Ford Crown Victoria ( although nearly two feet shorter! ). As a watcher of Ozzie soaps I do recall seeing a almost Scorpio shaped Australian Ford.

Howie is correct The old Granada was sold in the US under the Merkur brand and was a bit of a flop - they sold the V6 and a 4x4 versions - very rare cars over here. Ford have quite a few vehicles that cross the Atlantic - we (in the USA) get the Focus and the Mondeo (called a Contour here) whereas you in the UK get the Cougar and the Probe etc etc however the Scorpio was never sold over here.
