Cossie wont start

Hi all, About 4 months ago the gearbox on my 24v Scorpio gave up the ghost on the way to a wedding. I had the car towed back home while i continued to the wedding. I manged to dislocate my knee dancing at the wedding Huh and kinda wish i didn't go. So I have only just recovered enough to work on fitting a replacement gearbox to my car. (prattleing on, sorry).
Now I have fitted the gearbox I have also replaced the battery as that packed up after sitting for so long. But the car will not turn over. It has practicaly new HT's and plug and these look fine, any other ideas what may have given up after sitting for 4 months?

Hi Paulio,

Does it spin the engine when you turn the key?
If not, there could be something wrong in a starter.
Cables? Fitted right on its place?

I know it is too  horrible to contemplate , but could the pistons  be  siezed   in  their cylinders ?  My old  Granny ( me car, not me mums mum )  used  to suffer from this.

Hi
after a partial rewire, my cossy suffered the same symptom.......it turned out to be a burnt out cam shaft sensor......evidently when the engine turns over, the emu looks for a suitable signal from the camshaft sensor....it its not there, firstly the fuel pump will not engage and secondly the ht signal will not go to the plugs. An auto electrician with the suitable plug in, diagnosed the code and a replacement sensor was a sucess.......hope this points you in the right direction.

i know ford arent tremendously up to date but surely a large feathered bird isnt the way to go for cam sensing Tongue although having its head stuck in the sand would explain alot about why its not working  Undecided

Ok I have managed to get the engine to start! The problem is that there is a drain on the battery and it keeps going flat.
When the battery is connected the 2 fans on the radiator both come on, also the ABS pump is clicking away. all of this with out a key in the ignition. Any ideas what maybe amiss?? could it be a stuck relay or something similar, where should i look? Thanks

thanks, it does indeed look like a soggy fusebox, i have alwayds been careful with the battey cover but as i took the fuse box apart i found it was full of water, i have taken it apart and dried it (its a bit of a sod with the sandwich make up inside) i will let you know if it goes bang when i put it all together. Thanks
