Hi

I intend to replace the oil and filter on the autobox.  I understand that i'll need a sump gasket and 4lts of atf but how hard is this job ??  What sort of time scale will i do it in ??  (bear in mind i don't like freezing my nuts off on the drive so will have regular tea breaks Smiley ) Huh

I can't find the 'oil change' info on the site uness i was looking in the wrong areas Huh

Cheers

Dan

Its quite a long job and not so easy as you might think working on your back looking up... If you do do it be Meticulous about cleanliness and take your time.. then do it again in about 3months that way you will eventually change about 75% of the fluid.. as you can only change the fluid that is free in the box doing it this way NOT in the torque converter... Change the filter as well and clean the magnet..... If you have it done at an auot box specialist they suck it ALL out and it  costs as far as I am aware about £100 but I am sure others will advise accordingly.......

Thanks mate  Smiley

the specialist center wanted nearly £130 whereas the local garage wants £50 (2 hours labour) plus the parts.

The latter may be the option to go for as they can also do it monday morning as well..

It's a  shame Ford did not have the foresight to fit a  sump plug or  tap on the auto box  sump to enable  replacement  of  auto  fluid.

yeah agreed Mr Floppy.

HOWEVER..  It seems my gearbox woes are somewhat more serious..  Sometimes now the D is taking upto 6 seconds to engage and the torque converter is really having problems sometimes even when hot.

I've called one place here in Cotgrave and they want £850inc for a recon box !! OUCH  havn't had the car a week yet and it performed fine on the tests last week as per buyers guide.

Another place in nottingham is going to have my car Monday morning and give it a test drive FOC to see what gives.  then they'll take the fault codes and carry out an inspection etc for 35 quid if needed (1hour labour) and quote for what needs doing.

Oh dear

Comments, suggestions and very welcome as i'm totally  Undecided about this.
