Help required to fix buzzing, Argh!!

Hello everyone. I hope you are all well... I took the car to get its Autowatch alarm taken off today. The job went fine, uninstalled very professionally all apart from one thing. With all the doors closed, when the gear stick button is pressed or taken out of park it chimes, exactly as it does when the driver's door is open. It's just like that, except the car knows the doors are shut (lights on the instruments go out). Second to this, all interior lights don't work. The guys at the alarm centre said it'd be something to do with an earthing, or fuse.. we found that fuse 24 rated at 15 amps in the central box controls the interior lights.. we looked into that and found a ten amp fuse in its place. Replaced with a 15. No success. The buzzing is driving me crazy. What might it be? Any suggestions would be great. Thank you in advance. D+B

Try fuse 36 the power saver fuse that might have gone as well... that also works the interior lights.. as for the chime it coyuld well be a fault on the PRGL switch on the side of the cear box... worth having a look under the centre consul there are exploded diagrams on the site ... somewhere I'll post when I find them again...... I think what you need might well be on here somewhere! http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/autotrans.htm

Many thanks for that. I have looked at the fuse suggested and that is fine. I don't think the PRGL switch, whatever that is, is at fault either as all was well before the chaps took the alarm out. The guy was fair and said he would sort it out but we would have to have waited another hour or so while he finished 2 other cars. Given we had already "lost ourselves" for a couple of hours this was not the way to go. He suggested that he hadn't earthed the interior lights or something - it must be fairly simple as absolutely everything else is working (fingers crossed). Will try and find an interior light wiring diagram (couldn't see one earlier - any pointers?) and have a root around. Thanks

If you can, take it back. He messed it up, he can put it right. And as you quite rightly say, its most likely as a direct result of something removed very recently. Good luck anyhow, i know as well as you that its the small niggles that really hack you off on a day to day basis. Mike.

Cheers Mike. Just spoken to him and he is taking it in to have a look at tomorrow. He is a nice guy so I don't want to cause him trouble but like you say it only happened when the alarm was removed today, you don't exactly miss all those interior lights so I know they were working when I parked up! Will let you know what happens.........

UPDATE: All sorted thank goodness. Took them a while to isolate the fault but in the end it was a wire that had been cut up behind the dash somewhere. Apparently if we had taken a bulb out of the interior light it would have stopped the buzzing! Anyway, dodgy alarm (not the Ford one) has been taken off, interior lights operating as they should, remote locking working fine, new lockset on the table waiting to go in once we pause for breath, we are getting there! Thanks for all replies Merry Christmas to everyone
