fuse box + cooling fam nightmare

Hi all
I am writing from Italy and I am new to this forum.
I own a Scorpio 2.3 16V dated 12/96 manual gear.
I have this car since April this year and until november everything was fine.To the main  Ford Garage here I have done some mamintenance like tyres, shock absorbers, accessories belt, oil, plugs etc.

The problems started in November when the radiator cooling fan was on even with ignition switch off.

The FORD main garage here replaced the AirCon pressure switch, the temperature sensor, Total 170,00 pounds gave me the car back but the problem appeared again after a couple of days with battery flat.

I charged the battery, removed the dirt and cleared water holes and tryed again but as soon as I connect the battery 4/5 fuses go burst immediately and the engine don't start at all.

Can you tell me what can it be?

Thanks
Max

could be a wet fusebox shorting out the electrics which is a common problem on these cars. it would need drying out before replacing fuses and reconnecting the battery. hope this helps.

Max,

I have posted exactly the same problem, but haven't found the root cause yet.
From the  measurements I did I found that apart from the fan
drawing current , also the 2 heaters for the HO2S sensors
were drawing current. {fuse 39 and 40"}
After  spending  hours outside in cold weather [Holland], I decided to make a bypass, so that the car is functional again till
I can continue investigations next spring.
To achieve this I removed fuse 39 and made a connection between the left hand pin of fuse 39 and a contact of Relay 23 which supplies 12 V only when the motor is running .(of course via a fuse ).
Question : did you actually see the damaged loom, and can you tell me the approximate location where it is damaged.

Thanks,

Harrie.

PS: I did remove the aux fusebox  and dried it out completely.
However this did not cure the problem
