Vibration turning at low speed

Isn't it annoying when you get your car back from a service and it has more problems than when it went in? Last week my 2.3 failed the MOT on front brake hoses. I was also advised that the lower ball joints were worn and would need replacing before the next MOT. The car was already booked in with my local mechanic for a full service on Saturday so I asked him to replace the brake hoses and to look at the ball joints. Unfortunately he was given the wrong hoses so they couldn't be fitted. He'll be doing those tonight. He told me he couldn't find any play in the ball joints - just "normal" play at the rubber bushes.

I mention all the above as it may have a bearing on the problem I am now getting which is a light juddery vibration felt through the steering wheel when I'm turning at very low speed. This is both in forward and reverse as I put the car on the drive. It only lasts for a second but might happen perhaps twice as I turn.

I think I may have seen a similar problem posted on the forum some time ago but I couldn't find it. Was it connected with the car being raised with the wheels hanging for a length of time? At the back of my mind I'm worried that the guy may have damaged something if he was levering the suspension or steering rack about looking for play.

It does sometimes happen after the car has been lifted ... as you state with the wheels left  to 'dangle'  should rectify itself within a couple of days .... if not get onto some soft grass and turn the wheels from lock to lock a couple of times  . I have heard it helps..

Many thanks Snoopy, that's reassured me somewhat.
