Do I change my heater fan?

I at last got my climate control to work over the weekend it has never worked and I've owned the car fo a year and god only knows how long it was broken before I bought it.

However there is now a smell of ozone coming from the air vents when the fan is running.  My question is is this due to the build up of dirt on the motor contacts which may clear after a while or is the motor on its way out and should be replaced?

Any comments welcome,
John.

Are you sure you have identified the smell correctly.. after long periods of inactivity there is a baterial growth which can can cause a smell on the Ac fins in the housing.... A squirt of the special spray which is available from jetex or similar places wil cure it... I would have thiought that was the most likely cause

Thanks for your reply Snoopy

Thats what I'm concerned about.  I don't want to strip down the heater blower until absolutly necessery however just noticed today that the motor sometimes does not spin.  From reading some of the articles on this site I see that this is a symptom of HBC failure.  When playing with the system I did notice the the HBC was the one with the small heatsink so I think I am going to change that first will let you know the result when done.
