Heated Seat Switch Illumination

Hi All,

quick question regarding the heated seat switches - how do you replace the bulb that illuminates them? When they are pressed a green light comes on both of them, fine, but they don't light up when the headlights are on. I had a switch out today and pulled the bottom part (with the pins) half off but couldn't see the bulb in question so pushed it back together. Do you have to get at it from the top of the switch? If so, how?

Thanks for any help  Smiley

Cheers

Dave,

someone on the confidential list posted a way of opening the switches and replacing the strange bulbs that ford use with LED's. The heated seat and rear/front window heater switch bulbs never seem to last. Changing the bulbs with LED's is simple, its just opening the switch without breaking it which is the problem.

maybe someone has the email from the confidential list describing the correct procedure Huh I left all mine back in the UK Embarassed

Kind Regards

Thanks to Danny and Desperate for the replies.

Danny - that sounds like a good idea, I will look out for that info - join the list maybe? Or do you have to be invited? One to check out methinks.

Desperate - I remember just the thing you mention. I am just not sure whether to open up the switch from the top or the bottom - don't want to risk breaking it.

Hi Dave,

Join the list here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/mlist.htm but be prepared for lots of emails each day!

Each 'post' is emailed to everyone on the list and then each reply follows!

Very informative though

I have replaced the LEDs in a few mode switches and one in a heated screen switch - thay are straight forward if you have nimble fingers - the main problem is the springs in most of the switches, when you take them apart the spring have a habit of disappearing Undecided

I did look at the heated seat switch, but gave up as I had a spare that worked! From memory they have two bulbs one when in use the other when side lights are on!

HTH

Hi Daven,

thanks for your reply. I did see the spring in the switch so guess I was on the right track, thanks for the advice.
