I read the information on the website about removing the fascia, but, me being thick , I need a bit more detail , e.g. it says remove the knobs from the Climate Control panel , Doh! like how ? with pliers , mole grips, a screwdriver , a few grammes of semtex perchance ? I suppose i t requires patience and dexterity, attributes I have in short supply.

Well I use a couple of old credit cards, new ones will do but they become unusable afterwards..... Slide one in top and bottom of the cc panel and release it from the plastic clips which hold it in place they are about 1/3 of the way along and then ease out the passenger side first as it has a small lug on the drives side to locate it... bit like taking the front of the radio on the 7000 series.... after you have done it once or twice it becomes quite easy to do... Ask Baz...... he did it many many times in the past.. and really quickly last time he showed me....!

Gaz, Good luck mate,I got fed up with the bulbs from a factors, I had to take the dash off every 6 months or so to change a bulb. In the end went and bought pukka Ford ones. Still going strong after 2 years. CRAIG, The large knobs can be pulled of by hand if you have a strong grip--if not use mole grips/pliers and a doubled up flannel to protect the plastic. eddie

MR FLOPPY if you plan on removing the dash, you dont actually have to remove the climate panel,it comes away with the dash and you just unclip the multi plug from the back.... if you plan just to replace the bulbs in the cc panel,i use a thin set of feeler gauges,or like snoopy says, credit cards and follow snoopys directions... it really is not as bad as you may think... GOOD LUCK...

Thanks for that Snoopy - I think you just saved me from destroying my CC panel!!! I'll have another go in a few minutes so now that I half know what I am doing. BTW, got the car serviced last night - fan belt, oil and filter changed. Also had to get two new rear wishbone bushes and it now need 2 roll bar bushes and i rubber boot. However, the main surprise was the spark plugs. You should see the state of the old ones - Mother of Jesus, I haven't a clue how the car was still running. Explains the worsening fuel economy though. The plugs must have been it it since new, over 93,000 miles ago!

Well to be honest, Mr Floppy, I don't know as I didn't service the car myself but I would imagine the panel over the centre part of the engine as you look down at it has to be replaced. Could be completely wrong - I'm just assuming. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can clarify me on this! Oh, and just have the CC panel off now. Half way through changing the bulbs

To remove sparkly plugs on a 2.0L 16v. Lift bonnet! Remove blue cover on top of the engine 10X10mm bolts. Disconnect the low tension connectors on each of the 2 coil packs -- press down on the sprung bar and pull. (prepare to be shocked at the state of the wiring!) Using a torx tool (star shaped allen key type thingy) remove the two long bolts securing each of the two coil packs. Using the finger grips provided, grip and pull firmly on the plug connector for no.1 plug (front end). Remove rear coil pack and no 1 plug connector as a pair and place somewhere safe/dry. Repeat the process for plug no.3 and coil pack on plug 2. You will need a long extension for your ratchet/socket to get at the plugs---I use a 12" one! The rest is straight forward, Dont forget the coil pack/plug combo with the longer lead is for no's 1 and 4 with the coil at no 4. hope this is useful eddie
