i have a n reg scorpio 24 v daft question tho how do you refill the cooling system once it has been totally drained i tried topping up fron expantion tank and it bubbled out again

Having done this a few times, you should be able to refill the system from the expansion tank quite easily. You may get a few air locks or bubbles coming through, but I usually top the system up with the engine off. Bring the level up to max. Start the car and run it for a while with the cap off and you should eventually get water flowing through the pipes. Check the level and top up as necessary. Replace the cap and away you go.
I have changed a few radiators and never had water bubbling back out of the tank. can you explain further?

i think i was getting bubbles and water back out the expantion tank because the engine had reached temp and the lid was still off the tank (the temp sensor is goosed)i drove the car for a bit and lost most of my water out the over flow pipe as i dont think the cap was on as tight as it should have been thanks baz seems to be ok now.
