I have a 1996 16valve 2ltr ultima auto estate and the gear lever has become very loose and somtimes does not select gear correctly. I suspect a problem with the gear linkage but can find no information or diagram of this linkage. Would appreciate help in fixing this problem, correct setup etc. thank you regards Bill.

someone will help you with pictures i reckon. but just about one car i got off ebay from the nice man in Reading. the gear lever you could move up and down without having to depress the button to dis-engage notches. Also when you put it into park, it moved back out to near reverse and the warning siren would screem at you until you closed the door. It had to have a complete new auto gearbox sector, because someone had been playing with it and parts missing. My Ford Main Dealer did the job and it cost £340 that is supply and fitting. But I have seen these on Ebay for about £12. Madmanscorpio sells a lot. That's all I can tell you myself.
