car was running fine then harsh gear change & engine hunting then it cleared let the engine cool down and started up again and the fault was back drove for about 5miles then it cleared and ok again could it be the fuel cutoff loom as it has some of the insulation cracking ? and i also have a cracked exhaust manifold any ideas chaps 2.0ll 16v auot

Could be one of many things. A cracked manifold would cause air to be drawn in which means the 02 sensores which control the fueling will not operate correctly which inturn will quickly cause faliure of the cat. The cat will break up and could block the exhaust causing your problems. Thats just one possibilty.

Had a good look today and when it is hunting the gear changes are harsh if i disconect the maf there is no differance but if i plug and unplug the maf a few times it goes ok so it looks like the maf is on its way out to me any one have any other ideas
