Urgent help needed chaps !!!

Hi, My 24v scorpio keeps cutting out !!! She drives 100% then when i stop , i put her in reverse then as soon as i start moving she starts surging ( hunting ) and this leads to a stall ! Also it's happened when i have been in park for a couple of minutes then i put her in Drive or reverse and she cuts out straight away ! this is happening more and more and starting to get me down !! I've been advised to change the throttle diaphram on the gearbox  if this makes any sense to you please reply as i'm at my wits end !!

Hi,
my 24v has a similar problem although it only ever happens in reverse never drive.
When I select R it will wait 5 to 8 seconds before engaging (or sometimes not at all till I rev a bit)
When it does engage sometimes it will chug and hunt and possibly stall, other times it will be ok.
I took it to an auto gearbox specialist and he said it was the 3rd/reverse clutch which had had it's day basically. The solution is a full gearbox rebuild at a cost of about £600, I am at present saving to afford this.
Either that or a new/recon box.... still pricey...

best place to start is 4 gas emission test, clean AFM and ICV. thats just the basics to start with.
