Am I right in thinking these seats are the Recaro ones from the optional sports pack? If so, how rare are they? I'm thinking very... Thanks

I seem to remember a page in the handbook describing the addition/removal of an extra foam rubber pad in the lumbar region of the seat... Not very hi-tech... I could be wonrg! Nick H.

Hmmm, I wouldn't have minded some recaros though, I normally end up in the glovebox on right hand bends. They may as well have coated the seats with vasaline, they're awful! They DO look good though. The recaros look a bit mad in such a classy car. Of course, Ford should have made an all-out sport version: 24 valve Cosworth Recaro seats Stiffened springs MANUAL gearbox, oooh. Twould have been quite something. As it is, it's a regular comfortable family saloon car with a huge engine... it's a weird compromise, but I like it. D

I've got the Recaro sport trim half leather in my 2.3 ghia. This was called the Sport pack A and was an option. It consisted of Recaro sports trim, wood and leather steering wheel and 16 in 12 spoke chrome alloys. The lumbar adjustment is by inserting special recaro pads of different width into the base of the seat back. Tailored to the driver. You then extend the front part of the seat to support the insides of your legs/thighs. Electric movement is up and down, manual pull forward and back. The wingged sides provide incredable support to the upper body and they look the dogs!!! I have the full electric trim in leather in my 2.3 ultima estate and must admit this is as comfy as hell. Full heating etc. I like the saloon as its a rarity...and I like the estate for its practicality. The pair of them will be at Harewood this year. Simon

Cool guys. They look like half leathers, are they? I am after these for a Sierra you see. I have Granada leathers now, and I can always rig in the electric lumbar etc from that, but I'm mainly interested cos I wouldn't fall out of these on bends!

Yes they are half leather, If you find any look for wear on the drivers bolster, the sponge tends to get worn out on both the base and the back rest.

| I always did think an automatic V6 cosworth was an odd combination. Out of curiosity, is it faesible or even possible to fit a 6 speed manual box from another manufacturer to a cossie? (apologies if this is a really stupid question, I'm not in the least bit mechanically minded) Ian

I'm not mechanically minded at all either but.... surely, suuurely it's possible! And if so, I call for someone to take on the challenge. And then stiffen and lower the springs. Hmmm... why has no one done this yet. It should be done. Nowish. Anyone got a spare Scorpio to butcher in the interest of experimentation? I'm sure it'd take an absolute Scorpio cosworth genius/nut/maniac to know how to do it.. the engine management will be all geared toward the auto box. Hmm. I'm rambling. You've got me fantasising, Ian! Dave D
