So, I nip into the hardware shop for a powerful magnet....people do you know....I'm in there for 3 minutes and on my return, I find some kind soul has reversed into my Silver Scorpio and redesigned the front bumper...it's all over the place! Foglight hanging down..not damaged though..... Now, first of all are these here bumpers expensive? I know..I know,...stupid question, next are they easy to get, and finally are they easy to fit...or should I invest in a jumbo pack of Araldite and stick it all together...It now looks very fetching with an array of Black 'Gaffa' tape holding it all in place... Oh, how I laughed? brian

So sorry to hear of your problem, Brian. I'm not sure if it is common knowledge, but when my scorp was hit when it was parked two weeks ago, a seemingly knowledgable policeman at the local nick told me that anyone who suffers such damage and doesn't know who did it is obliged to report it to the police within 24 hours (apparently part of the Road Traffic Act) and take all their documents to the nearest police station and fill out a report form/statement. Do they wonder why we often don't bother!! Anyway, if your hardware shop is in a town centre, the incident just might be captured on CCTV and the police will check that for you. Not much, I know, but it might be helpful to know that you have the sympathy of a fellow sufferer. Rod

Seaking from experience when i hit a huge waggon at 30mph in the snow a few years ago, my bumper came off in pieces, literally. My mate is an excellent repairer and sprayer and managed to repair it using plastic welding, a little fibreglass and a lot of patience but the result was stunning. My advice is hunt around, not big flashy garages but the smaller 1 man bands who have to make a profit out of every job and have to repair what they can. If anyone needs a fantastic repairer in the Sunderland area let me know. bertie was stunnded we put the same bumper back on the car cos some of it got brushed up from his garage floor. Best of luck Nic

They are repairable if you have all the major bits. I've had one repaired by a body shop and done one myself. Remove bumper and dry run the bits ands peices. Some form of clamp or a means of stopping the bumper flopping apart after attaching the bits will be needed. I used JB weld to stick the bits in place, you could use araldite etc. Back the repaired area with some fibreglass matting and resin for extra support. When dry (next day) use filler sparingly to fill any small imperfections. Use wet'n'dry to sand it smooth then a light coat of plastic primer,if happy spray with top coat a couple of times until it looks good then finish with clear coat. Go on,have a bash! eddie
