VIN or not to VIN

Hi,
Ive trawled thru quite a few topics and can't find any at the mo ref this quirk I've got (the car of course)!
Checking the VIN numbers like you do, I seem to have an anomoly.
The floor chassis number is the same as the VIN plate and the same as on the V5.
The windscreen number is different! and is the same as the MoT cert (easier to fill in I suppose). Whats going on 'ere I ask. The car is HPI'd and checkes out ok.
Whats the answer please
Cheers my dears.

Hmm.... I don't think you'll find a topic covering that. I'm really not sure this has cropped up before now.

Its possible that someone has changed the dash top at some stage and therefore changed the visible VIN.

When the car's been MOT'd, they've obviously read it from the screen (they should've looked under the bonnet too really).

Perhaps you could post the VIN number from the screen so that one of us can work out what car it came from..?

You're probably right. It could be that the dash top has been changed but the silly burger who did it didn't or forgot to take plate off.
Ill probably stick a piece of black tape over it or take it off!!!

Yes, sorry. I should have known better than to suggest posting them up on here.

I wouldn't personally take it off or cover it...If you should get a tug by the boys in blue a huge amount of explaining would be necessary.. Wink be simpler to leave it as is...

Paul,
Yes, I'll let you know what I find out. ½ way there already.

Vulcan,
I know what your saying, but I'll cover it up for the next MoT or make sure the man knows not to use it...

Thanks for all the info guys.
